This isn’t the long‑awaited follow‑up to the Cold War classic thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, but it is a major milestone for CP7. Welcome to our 70th episode: Podcaster, Jeweller, Sneakerhead, Watch Guy, featuring Alon Ben Joseph.
Having just added London to his Amsterdam watch operations, Alon is host of the hugely popular watch podcast, The Real Time Show, owner of Amsterdam’s legendary Ace Jewellers, self-confessed sneakerhead, and confirmed and fully-certified watch addict.
In this episode, we explore how Alon revels in having so many fingers in so many pies by balancing horological retail with journalistic neutrality, navigating the challenges of sales and collaborations in this turbulent political and financial climate, and building one of the most influential watch podcasts in the industry. All of this while being able to maintain his other obsession, sneaker collecting.
There’s also time for some fun and games of course, as we enjoy the ball of energy that is Alon Ben Joseph. So buckle up and enjoy the ride, for a rollercoaster of industry insights, facts, fears, and fun!

First up, the wrist watch checks: Alon is wearing, or should we say was wearing, the prototype MING 57.04 Phoenix, followed by Parm with the Sherpa x TRTS OPS, and we close the wrist watch checks with Andy and his Audemars Piguet 5043 in platinum, AKA the Diva.
A closer look at the Sherpa x TRTS OPS.
aking a look at the watches that shook things up for Alon after the quartz crisis, the original Breitling Chronomat and the IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar, followed by the IWC Porsche Design range, which Alon’s dad was wearing in the late 70s and which sparked Alon’s love for titanium watches, with the example pictured being the IWC Porsche Design Compass Watch 3511.
Now we check out the Monceau Model 01 Atacama Grey, which Alon recently picked up and demonstrates that watches from all price ranges can be enjoyed, no matter the stage you are at in your watch journey.
Moving on to Barrelhand, pictured is the Project 1, while Alon is patiently waiting for his Project 2.
Could the next Swatch x be the Longines Lindbergh?
A tough question, but if Alon had to stick to one watch, it would be his original Rolex GMT-1 Pepsi, which his parents bought him for his 21st birthday. For a grail, it would be a resonance complication, which both F.P. Journe and Armin Strom offer, but for something more in reach, it would be a Biver watch, which is Alon’s next goal.
Win or fail, for Alon the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M is a win, do you agree, let us know in the comments, we follow with two more winners from 2026 so far for Alon, the MING 37.08 Starlight and the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium.
That concludes the show notes, we hope you enjoyed the episode, and as always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below, you’ll hear us on the next one.
