Ep #59: Our Favourite Geezer Watches - CP7 Unplugged

Listen to full episode :

What is a geezer watch?

The watch a garish, flashy and smooth-talking cockney “Jack The Lad” from Old London Town would wear? Or the watch for a well-heeled silver fox man of a certain age with style, wisdom and a hankering for watches from the precious-metal and slightly outlandish design obsessed decades, the 1970s and 1980s?

Join us as we talk about our favourite “Geezer” watches from Rolex, Omega, Piaget, Patek Philippe and many more. Find out if our choices are more suited to disco dancing, Saturday Night Fever’s Tony Manero? Or the classy and cool former chairman of Fiat, Gianni Agnelli.

So buckle up and enjoy this two tone and solid gold ride as we talk about our favourite Geezer Watches… CP7 Style!

This episode’s show notes start a little differently, as the wristwatch checks come up later in the show. We begin with the H. Moser × Alpine F1 event, which Andy attended in Barcelona. He had the chance to try on the new Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition and Mechanics Edition, both limited to just 200 pieces.

Now we move on to the main segment of the show, where the boys each pick five of their favourite geezer watches and we take a closer look at their choices.

Here are their first picks, which also double up as their wristwatch checks, starting with Andy and his Chopard St. Moritz, followed by Parm and his Omega Constellation Quartz Perpetual Calendar.

Here’s a closer look at the St. Moritz in motion, showing the flat caseback and unibody design.

Second picks: Andy with his ultra-slim Omega De Ville bracelet watch, and Parm went with the classic Rolex Submariner “Bluesy” 11613.

Third picks: Andy went with the Piaget Polo Day-Date, followed by Parm and the Piaget Protocole ‘Tank’ in 18ct yellow gold.

Fourth picks: Andy with the Eterna Delirium, then Parm with the Patek Philippe Neptune, featuring a sunburst silvered dial in 18k yellow gold. The final image shows a more affordable alternative to the Eterna— the Concord Delirium.

Fifth picks: Andy’s final pick was the Boucheron Carrée in full gold. The second image shows how the bracelet attaches to the lugs, a common design trait from Boucheron. Parm’s final choice is the Gérald Genta Perpetual Calendar Quartz. The final image showcases the diamond-style cut crystal seen on select “Success” models, which Andy mentions in the show.

That’s a wrap for the show notes, we hope you enjoyed the episode! Which geezer watch caught your eye today, and what would be your ultimate geezer watch? Let us know in the comments. We’ll catch you on the next one!
